Angie Johnson: Living with Passion and Purpose

"I approach each day with passion and purpose."

Those are Angie's words.

When Angie and I met for her Design Consultation, we talked about clothing and locations because both play an important role in helping someone feel confident, comfortable, and authentically themselves. But more importantly than that, and before we finalized those decisions, we spent time talking about her life, her family, the women she serves, and the story she wanted her portraits to tell. Once we understood that, every wardrobe choice and every location had a purpose.

One of the things that surprises people most is that every portrait experience begins with a conversation, not a camera. Before I choose a single location or recommend wardrobe, I want to understand the person behind the portrait.

With Angie, one thing became clear almost immediately.

Her work isn't simply about health coaching.

It's about helping women build healthier lives...one intentional choice at a time.

One of the greatest privileges of the Forty Over 40 Experience is meeting remarkable people from all walks of life. Each participant brings a different life experience, a different perspective, and a different legacy. I'm honored to share part of Angie's story.

A Journey That Changed Everything

Years ago, Angie was building a successful career in marketing and communications when a breast cancer diagnosis unexpectedly changed the direction of her life.

During treatment, she experienced firsthand the importance of compassionate healthcare, nutrition, and support. That experience eventually inspired her to become a certified health coach, helping women improve their health, navigate midlife with confidence, and become the strongest versions of themselves.

Her personal journey now allows her to connect with clients in a way that is both knowledgeable and deeply compassionate.

Every Location Told Part of Her Story

One of the biggest misconceptions about personal branding photography is that beautiful locations are chosen simply because they look nice.

Every location should have a purpose. For Angie's portrait experience, we wanted her future clients to immediately understand not only what she does, but how she lives.

Here's a small sampling of some of her headshot and personal branding photos.

The Kitchen

Some of my favorite images from Angie's session were created in her kitchen.

She believes healthy living begins at home, and she wanted her portraits to reflect that philosophy. As she prepared healthy meals, her husband and son naturally joined in. Those moments were guided but not staged, they reflected something she genuinely believes: when the family is involved, healthy habits become part of everyday life rather than another item on the to-do list.

Lake Elkhorn

We also spent time around beautiful Lake Elkhorn.

Walking around Lake Elkhorn isn't something Angie does for the camera. It's part of the life she already lives, not simply something she recommends to her clients. It's where she finds movement, reflection, gratitude, and renewal.

As a Howard County health coach, she encourages sustainable habits rather than quick fixes, and photographing her outdoors allowed us to visually communicate that message.

Again, we weren't simply creating beautiful portraits.

We were telling her story.

The Studio

We finished her portrait experience in my studio in Historic Ellicott City, where we created timeless professional portraits.

These images give Angie the flexibility to share her story consistently, whether someone visits her website, hears her speak, discovers her on social media, or meets her for the very first time. Just as importantly, they reflect the confidence, warmth, and professionalism her clients experience when they work with her.

Together, the kitchen, the lake, and the studio create a visual story and one that is authentic to who Angie is and the work she loves.

More Than Personal Branding Photography

One of the reasons I love creating branding portraits is because they allow people to see the heart behind someone's business.

Anyone can have a professional headshot, and they should.

When people have photographs that genuinely communicate who they are, what they believe, and why they do what they do, they can reach people who can benefit from their expertise.

That's always my goal.

Whether we're photographing a business owner, an executive, a nonprofit leader, or someone participating in the Forty Over 40 Experience, I want every image to tell part of their story.

Beautiful portraits are important. Meaningful portraits are unforgettable.

What I Loved Most About Working With Angie

What struck me most about Angie wasn't simply what she has overcome.

It was how intentionally she chooses to live today.

She doesn't separate her personal life from her professional mission. She lives the message she shares with her clients every single day. Whether she's preparing meals with her family, walking around Lake Elkhorn, or coaching women toward healthier lives, everything reflects the same values: purpose, compassion, gratitude, and consistency.

Spending time with Angie reminded me that the most inspiring teachers are often the ones who quietly live what they believe.

It was an absolute joy to help tell her story.
