OPERATION COMMUNITY CHEER
It starts with one card. One message of kindness. One community coming together.
Imagine this.
You’ve been deployed for months, far from family, far from home.
Mail call comes, and there’s a handwritten card waiting for you.
Inside, a message of gratitude.
And a photo of smiling faces - people you’ve never met, but who took the time to say,
“We appreciate you. You are not forgotten.”
That’s what this project is about.
What We’re Creating
Snapshots & Sentiments for Service is a heartfelt community project
hosted by Pam Long Photography in Historic Ellicott City.
The weekend of November 22 - 24, our studio becomes a space for connection where people gather to:
- Handwrite messages of love and gratitude for veterans and deployed troops.
- Take a group photo that will be included in each card so every service member can see the faces of the people cheering them on.
Every card, every smile, every photo becomes a tangible reminder of home.

Why It Matters
Every message written, every photo taken, every toy donated carries the same truth:
They are seen.
They are valued.
They are loved.
Because gratitude should be something you can see, feel, and hold in your hands.
